Diwali- A festival of lights start with Dhanateras and ends with Bhai dooj. Mainly, Diwali is considered of five days. Diwali sheds light on the Darkness and bring happiness in everyone’s life.
We Divekar’s Celebrate Diwali at our ancient house built by My Great Grandfather in 1936 at Haveri, Karnataka. The atmosphere is filled with joy in diwali days as whole family come together. We burnt crackers (Limited), We built Castle, We follow tradition.
First Day- Dhanateras
We did Ganga Pooja and officially started Diwali. We strictly followed ban on Chinese products and hence my Elder brothers did jugaad and repaired Lightings (we saved money too). After that, We built Castle ( We are architects too). In the evening, We played our traditional game- Chakka Vacchi ( this time by forming 2 teams.) Unite- We Stand.
Second Day- Narak Chaturdashi
My Kaku and Vahini did ‘’Aukshan’’ as per the Tradition followed by Abhyangsnan. After that, We burnt some crackers( Not WE, actually). Shrikhand Puri made our day and of course we played Chakka Vacchi and ended our day by Ice cream Party.
Third Day- Laxmipujan
On this day, My uncle prepared Mirchi Bhaji for all of us( Yum! No doubt) then we enjoyed Coconut Rice and Hooli Anna( Dal Rice). In the evening, We offered prayers to Goddess Laxmi and now it was time to use our traditional musical instruments. Kartik Dada’s Shankhnaad filled Positivity in the Atmosphere. After that, We visited our Village God to offer prayers. We burnt Crackers, clicked lot of Photos and Selfies.
Fourth Day- Padwa
In the morning, after Abyangsnan, Men in the House gave gifts to the Women. My Kaku made ‘’Pandavas’’- It has importance in Karnataka. In the Evening, We went to the Dutta Temple for the ‘’Kartik Ceremony” celebrated at the first day of Kartik Month( Hindu Calendar). Palkhi  is important in this. Men carried Palkhi in alternate way( Me too Carries Palkhi). This gives Happiness and Satisfaction to us.
Fifth day- Bhai Dooj
We planned a small trip to Varadpur, Place known for Shridharashram. We reached temple after climbing 243 Stairs, offered Prayers and Went Down for Prasad. Lungi- South Indian Tradition wear is necessary for Prasad. Then we returned back to home, Played Chakka Vacchi for the Last time. Palyed like Rivals but still we are Good Friends. And finally ended our Diwali. This Diwali will remember me for many years.
