Nikhil Bidkar Wins at Solapur Rapid Chess Tournament.

Nikhil Bidkar Became Champion of Maasaheb Sulochana Rajegaonkar Trophy Open Chess Tournament
Maasaheb Sulochana Rajegaonkar One day Rapid Chess Tournament held on 4th March at Solapur. Solapur is Famous for Textile Industry and also Known for Historical Fort and Siddheshwar Temple.
 Tournament Attracted total of 194 Players across the Maharashtra in which 41 Players were International Rated.

Now Coming to the Organizing Part, Organization of the Tournament was Good. Venue was in the Heart of the City and therefore Public Transport was Easily Available.
One of the Organiser Mr. Sumukh Gaikwad is Very Experienced Organiser and Former Chess Player. Time Control of Tournament was 10 Minutes plus 5 Seconds Increment.
Let's Shift our Focus on the Main Point.
Local Boy Nikhil Bidkar Started as 13th Seeded in the Tournament and Finished as Champion.
First 3 Rounds Were Easy as He defeated Inexperienced and Unrated Players. But in the Fourth Round, He tied with Experienced Player and Top Seed of the Tournament Chandrashekhar Korvi (2055). Game began with Scotch Opening in which Korvi brought some Tactics from Black Side and Succeeded to Grab Slight Edge. But Nikhil Calculated some Brilliant Combinations and Defeated the Experienced. In the Same Round, Riddhi Upase beat 3rd Seed Rohit Pawar and Nitin Agrawal Beat 4th Seed Mandar Sane.
In 5th Round, Nikhil Showed his Experience and Got the Better of Om Lamkane(1340) Easily.
In 6th Round, Nikhil tied with Experienced and Veteran Chess Player Mr. Ravindra Nikam of Ichalkaranji. The Game Opened with Nimzo Indian. It was Positional Game till the Middlegame. Solapur Lad showed his Tactical Skills and Got the King of Veteran.
In 7th Round, Nitin Agrawal Lost Piece in Typical Scotch Opening and Resigned and Harshal Patil of Nashik Missed an Opportunity to Beat 2nd Seed Kiran Panditrao.

In the Crucial 8th Round, Veteran Chess Player and 2nd Seed Kiran Panditrao(2052) Showed his Defensive Skills and Drew with the Local Lad and Succeeded to Break Winning Streak of the Young.
Kiran Panditrao Stopped Nikhil Bidkar.
Nikhil tried his Best to Beat the Veteran But Forcefully Drew due to Time Pressure and took the Sole Lead by 0.5 Point.
In the 9th Round, Without any Complications, Nikhil Signed the Peace Treaty with Mandar Sane (1883) of Kalyan and Ravindra Nikam defeated Rohit Pawar to Equalise the Score with Nikhil Bidkar.But  became due to Tie Break Rule of Direct Encounter Nikhil Became the Champion and Took Home A Beautiful Trophy with Cash Prize of ₹7000.

 Advantage of Local Ground Played Minor Role in his Success as Most of the Players Got Exhausted due to Hot Temperature.

                             Chess in Happy Street, Nashik Happy Street is an Unique Concept organised by Times of India and Maharashtra Times where Thousands of Nashikkars Participated and Enjoyed a number of Activities.
